Front of St Michael Church

On a recent trip to Hillsborough, NJ, I passed by two churches which are elegant examples of Eastern Rite Catholic church buildings. In NJ, more often than not, Eastern Rite Catholics wind up with Roman Catholic church buildings which the local Roman Catholic congregation has outgrown; this is an example of an Eastern Rite building originally created for its actual purpose. Eastern Rite Catholics use liturgy and architecture almost identical to those of the Orthodox churches; however, instead of following the synod of Constantinople as a source for doctrine, these Christians follow the Pope of Rome for their doctrine.
